Today is the realization of a longstanding dream, one that would not have been possible without the support and prayers that many of you have provided. America magazine just published on its website a feature article I wrote on Father Louis J. Twomey, S.J.: “A Little-Known Jesuit’s Battle for Racial Justice in the Deep South.” Lord willing, once folks discover him through my article—which includes new information on his friendship with the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (beyond what I published last month in Vatican News)—he won’t be little-known for long.
If you’re the praying sort (or even if you’re not), please say a prayer for me as I seek a publisher for my biography of Father Twomey. Also, if you’d like to suggest a better working title than the current “God’s Gadfly,” I’d love to hear your ideas in the comments or via email (dawneden [at] gmail.com).
